About

This is a blog about dx-listening. The dx-listening – or dxing in short – has been my favourite hobby for over 40 years. It simply means listening to broadcasts from distant radio stations.

My name is Pentti Lintujärvi, and I live in the Northern Country of Finland. I have recently retired and left my job in Helsinki (Capitol city of Finland). My dx-listening site is located some 200 kms north of Helsinki – in Väärinmaja village, in Ruovesi, where I’m now residing.

During the years I have used various receivers and antennas, but lately I have used solely the Elad FMD-S2 -software defined radio – both on AM and FM. I have a pretty much standard set of longwire antennas; 6 of them with lengths varying from 50 to 150 metres. On FM I use 8 -element yagi placed in my attic under tin roof.

Congratulations! Your website dxlinks.info is already a valuable source for DX-related links, and I hope that this blog will also become an equally important tool for DXers.

Hi, I am interested in radio, and picking up signals from far away. What kind of equipment do I need/should I get ? Where can I read up on these types of things? I currently have a trunked radio scanner (for fire/ems etc.) Thanks for any and all help, please email me.

Taking into consideration the growing interest and needs for information of the international broadcasting community on the matter, Indotel has undertaken the challenge of organizing the first “International Digital Radio Forum”, which will be held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on June 13-14, 2007.

The Forum’s objective is to create a direct interaction between the participants (regulators, private sector, manufacturers); as well as to show the advances of the digital radio, the current situation of the analog radio, and the implementation of the digital radio technology in the different countries of the Region.

Should you honor us with your presence, you will have the opportunity to interact with high level officials, and private sector industry participants. Also, we would appreciate your views about the RIO Agreement in a separate session.

We look forward to welcome you personally in Santo Domingo. Should you have any questions, as well as to detailed logistics information, please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Claudia Acra at cacra@indotel.org.do at your earliest convenience.

    Sincerely,
