This is a blog about dx-listening. The dx-listening – or dxing in short – has been my favourite hobby for over 40 years. It simply means listening to broadcasts from distant radio stations.
My name is Pentti Lintujärvi, and I live in the Northern Country of Finland. I have recently retired and left my job in Helsinki (Capitol city of Finland). My dx-listening site is located some 200 kms north of Helsinki – in Väärinmaja village, in Ruovesi, where I’m now residing.
During the years I have used various receivers and antennas, but lately I have used solely the Elad FMD-S2 -software defined radio – both on AM and FM. I have a pretty much standard set of longwire antennas; 6 of them with lengths varying from 50 to 150 metres. On FM I use 8 -element yagi placed in my attic under tin roof.
