Still more RAI 1 close-downs

After Naples two more medium wave transmitters have been closed down abruptly in Italy. Does RAI leave the band in a very near future?
In addition to RAI 1 Naples, also the antennas in Caltanissetta Sicily, 567 kHz (20 kW) and in Gorizia Friuli Venezia Giulia 1575 kHz (2 kW) were dismantled.
The difficult financial situation and maintainance costs press to reduce expenses but with no information about their decision RAI left listeners very doubtful about the future of the service. Italradio is receiving protests and proposals. Sources say only one or two MW transmitter may remain in Italy as shortly as one year ahead.

(The closing of Caltanisetta on 567 kHz leaves that frquency empty of RAI stations / finndxer)

I’m really sorry the Rai Medium Wave Station at Caltanissetta has closed down. I live in Malta, and used to get a very strong signal from the station. Now I can’t listen to Rai Uno on my portable, as I don’t get the fm signal from Monte Lauro.
