Fresno’s KGED-AM 1680 to flip format for 3rd time in 8 months

It started the year as KAVT-AM. In March, the call letters changed to KGED (1680), dropping their Radio Disney affiliation for Sinatra and adult standards.  That will now change as KGED flips to a Spanish-language religious format, one recently abandoned by the market’s KYNO-AM (1380) when it flipped to talk earlier this month. RAK Communications station owner Al Perez tells the Fresno Bee newspaper that “the nostalgia format was just not working with listeners or advertisers.” The transition to Spanish has already began, playing music just on the weekend and during parts of the weekdays.
