Utvarp Føroya, Akraberg, Faroe Islands transmits again on mediumwave on 531 kHz. A new MW transmitter has been installed in Akraberg. The transmitter has been in bad condition for several years and this spring it stopped functioning definitely. Faroese Parliament decided to spend money on two new 50 kW mediumwave transmitters, later changed to a 100 kW transmitter and a 50 kW transmitter. The transmitter now installed is the 50 kW backup transmitter. The new 100 kW transmitter will be installed in November 2008.

On my simple Grundig Yachtboy, I received this station.
When Beromunster will shut down, at the end of this year, reception will certainly improve.

Distance to Holland about 1350 km.
