Polish Radio to launch new station network – Radio Euro
Polish Radio is to start a new station which aims to be the first multimedia programme containing broadcasts on sport, education and music. The station’s director has been nominated as Szymon Sławiński. The idea of the station came in the summer, when Polish Radio’s “Lato z Radiem” (“Summer with the Radio”) roadshow went to Lviv, in the Ukraine. At the same time, the Polish Football Association signed a contract on the promotion of the European Cup in 2012.
Head of Polish Radio, Krzysztof Czabański, has said that the station will be concentrated on sport, but also will have educational broadcasts, which make up much of Polish Radio BIS’s programming.
The station is set to provide more information and debate on European Union affairs, also lending a lot of time to issues surrounding European integration and information on the Ukraine, with which Poland is organising the Euro 2012 championships.
Radio Euro is also to have a mobile internet service, something which Czabański also believes will show Polish Radio’s new approach to the medium.
The new radio station is to broadcast on the existing Polish Radio BIS frequencies (also known as Polish Radio 4) around the country and on the internet
