KUPI 980 Goes Spanish

February 20, 2007 at 7:47 am Leave a comment

The hispanic community is booming in Eastern Idaho these days. More and more people are speaking Spanish and more and more mediums are catering to it. What used to be a country station is now Spanish listening. KUPI-980 AM now provides hispanic music full time, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Management says it’s a win-win situation. They benefit with advertising dollars, and the community gets a new Spanish speaking station. DJ’s say this move in Eastern Idaho has been long overdo. “I think this is the time the Spanish community is growing and they need something like this,” said radio DJ, Domingo Munoz.
