NA AM format Changes

1190 WLIB (NY)

WLIB, New York is now broadcasting in gospel/inspirational format (“Your Praise & Inspiration Station”). Air America programming left WLIB after August 31, 2006, effective with the expiration of the Air America-Inner City lease. The AA network’s new flagship station became WWRL the next day.

1290 WMCS (WI)

WMCS Milwaukee switches from African-American talk to sports station after sunset, carrying a syndicated ESPN Radio broadcast, in partnership with WAUK-AM (1510), which operates on a daylight-only license (“1290 WMCS/ESPN Radio: 1510 Days, 1290 Nights”). The station is also the home of games for Marquette college basketball and the AHL Milwaukee Admirals.

In WGGO Salamanca, Easy Listening standards are out, replaced by ESPN Radio.

As of September 1, 2006, WWRL New York is the new flagship affiliate of Air America Radio, replacing WLIB. The slogan: “New York’s Progressive Talk”.
